A representative of the Iron Bank of Braves, Tyco Neustreis, arrives at the Wall in search of Stanis, who has already marched in the south with his army. Iron Bank now supports the Iron throne of Stannis, because Regent Cersei Lannister has refused to repay the loans of the Taj. John negotiates a loan with which the clock of the night can buy food to survive through winter. After a recurring look, Melicandre warned John that he is in danger from enemies within the watch, and that a northern girl is in trouble. John has received a warning letter from Ramsay Bolton, who claims to have crushed Stany’s army in Winterfall. Ramsay demands that John be handed over to Stanis’s wife and daughter or to be killed, and also urges that it be distributed to Thane Greyjos and Aryans, of whom John has not seen in years. Instead, John decided that he would seek Ramsay himself and ask the volunteers of the Watch to accompany him.
